The Imo State Civil Service Commission like all other civil service commissions in Nigeria operates a hierarchical pay structure. What do we mean by this? This means that civil servants are allotted salary grade levels depending on their educational qualifications, skills, and even years of experience.

What is a salary Grade Level? Salary Grade levels are simply ranks within the civil service commissions. The grade levels determine the pay of each civil servant in the state.

The salary grade level ranges from Level 1 – 17; as is already implied, the salary grade level 1 is the lowest level and the entry-level position for employees with the least educational qualifications. The highest grade level is level 17 and the pay is considerably higher than the rest of the grade levels.

Civil servants can upgrade and move to higher salary grade levels by obtaining higher educational qualifications or by years of service. Below is a list of ministries under the Imo State Civil Service Commission
